A very dear friend of mine told me many years ago that I should not grieve over friends I have lost contact with during the years.  "There's a purpose for every friend we have or have had and still will have.  Some friends are just meant to be with You for a while, some friends will stay with You till the end of time.  Therefore remember the good friends You've got to know during the years, handle the friends You have today with care- they are precious - and be open to new acquaintances".  Lovely words!
