22.-23.07. RKS, Rauma

Another highlight of the summer is the annual Lace Week, which is arranged in the idyllic town of Rauma about half an hour by car from where we live.  Rauma is known historically for its high quality lace and during this special week in July this fine handcraft can be seen and admired all over Rauma.

The Rauma dog club's (RKS) contribution to this celebration of lace is the Lace Agility Weekend Games, which have become a true classic event for agility people all around Finland.  We went there for the competitions on Friday and Saturday with Della and Taika.

Della got four competitions altogether and Taika got three.  We had one run on Friday and once again Della showed she's really someone to count on nowadays.  I really enjoy running with her and due to a bit careless handling Della got two contact faults.  It really annoyed me because we've never had such speed before and we were placed 11th out of 19 competitors (-8,13 s/4,01 m/s).  Taika and Pasi picked 13th place, also after faults on two contacts (-2,46 s/3,49 m/s).

When success finally comes your way, there's no better way to enjoy it than among friends.  Della made a dream come true in Rauma on Saturday when she had her first clean run ever in Class 3!  There were 41 competitors and we were placed 9th (-1,46 s/3,62 m/s).  I am so happy!

Unfortunately there were no clean runs for Pasi and Taika this time though they did a great job during these "lace days".

Thank you Kati (Kontaktikoirat) for solving our problems, Reetta (Tmi Reetta Pirttikoski) for coaching us and Tanja (Move Well) for keeping Della in shape!  A big thank you also goes to all our lovely friends and supporters.  Without you we would never have survived our winding road.

A dream came true.

 

Unelmasta tuli totta.

Kesän toinen kohokohta on vuosittainen Pitsi-viikko joka järjestetään idyllisellä Raumalla noin puolen tunnin matkan päässä missä asumme.  Rauma on tunnettu historiallisesta pitsistään ja tänä erityisenä viikkona heinäkuussa näitä hienoja käsitöitä voi ihailla eri puolilla Raumaa.

Rauman Käyttö- ja Seurakoirat ry (RKS) juhlistaa tätä pitsiviikkoa järjestämällä PitsiAgility viikonloppukisat josta on tullut klassinen tapahtuma agilityväelle ympäri Suomea.  Me osallistuimme kisoihin perjantaina ja lauantaina Dellan ja Taikan kanssa.

Dellalla oli neljä starttia ja Taikalla kolme.  Meillä oli yksi kisa perjantaina ja jälleen kerran Della on nykyään varteen otettava tekijä.  Nautin todella kisaamisesta hänen kanssaan vaikka huolimattoman ohjauksen takia Della sai kaksi kontaktivirhettä.  Se todella ärsytti minua koska meillä ei ole ennen ollut sellaista nopeutta ja sijoituksemme oli 11:sta 19 kilpailijasta (-8,13 s/4,01 m/s).  Taika ja Pasi saavuttivat sijan 13. myös kahdella kontaktivirheellä (-2,46 s/3,49 m/s).

Kun lopulta onnistut ei ole parempaa paikkaa kuin tehdä se ystävien keskellä.  Della teki sen Raumalla lauantaina kun se saavutti ensimmäisen puhtaan radan 3-luokassa!  41 kilpailijan joukossa sijoitus oli 9. (-1,46 s/3,62 m/s).  Olen niin iloinen!

Valitettavasti Pasi ja Taika eivät tehneet puhtaita ratoja tällä kertaa vaikka muuten tekivätkin hienoa työtä "pitsi päivinä".

14.07. PKS, Pietarsaari & 15.-17.07. KLAG, Kokkola

Sometimes wine, sometimes water.  Speaking of results and weather, I think it's a quite appropriate description of the above mentioned weekend.  Two towns, seven agility competitions and one of the most expected events of the summer.  The weather really played games with us.  It turned from blue skies to really heavy rains and thunderstorms almost every day.  Fortunately it spared us from showers of snow.

Towing our caravan we took off for Kokkolan Camping on Wednesday morning.  It's a great place to camp on, because the annual KLAG agility competitions are hold at the very same campsite.  During this special weekend agility people from all around Finland are coming together for fun, meeting with friends and enjoying the things they love the most - agility and dogs.

New for this year was that we chose to leave home a day earlier to be able to attend the evening competitions arranged by the dog club (JKF/PKS) in the neighboring town, Pietarsaari, on Thursday.  The weather was splendid, almost too hot.

Two competitions were on the schedule and both Della and Taika participated.  Pasi is really enjoying every start with Taika, the result is not of importance anymore knowing that this is going to be Taika's last summer as a competing agility dog.  Taika turns eleven years in September and we have decided to let her enjoy the rest of her life as a happy and still healthy retired agility dog.  Of course it's sad but that's life.  Taika is our first champion ever and she's worth the best.

Taika is still going strong and as so many times before, Pasi and Taika were the stars of our team.  Della did very well and it was so close we had succeeded this time, but I really messed it up and showed Della the wrong way and we ended up with two disqualifications.  Pasi and Taika were placed seventh.  Magnificent teamwork once again!

Back in Kokkola again we had eight competitions altogether during the next three days, Della had five and Taika three.  The KLAG competitions are so much more than just racing and competing against each other.  It's a concept.

Though there were no great wins or agility certificates for our team this time, I experienced a personal win when Della had a run under the ideal time for the first time ever in Class 3 (-3,52 s / speed 3,77 m/s).  I know it's not a very shiny result for most competitors but for us it's a huge step in the right direction.  Let's say we are moving!

Pasi and Taika did very well in Kokkola too and though they had no clean runs either, they were placed in two out of three competitions.  This is something Della and I still have to work on, a good and solid teamwork.

KLAG 2016 - agility, friends and fun!

KLAG 2016 - agilitya, ystäviä ja hauskanpitoa!

Joskus viiniä, joskus vettä.  Puhuttaessa säästä ja tuloksista tämä on mielestä sopiva kuvaus otsikossa mainitulle pitkälle viikonlopulle.  Kaksi kaupunkia, seitsemän agilitykilpailua ja yksi kesän odotetuimmista tapahtumista.  Sää todella leikki kanssamme.  Kirkkaan sininen taivas muuttui yhtäkkiä kovaksi sateeksi ja ukkosmyrskyksi miltei joka päivä.  Onneksi säästyimme lumen tulolta.

Keskiviikko aamuna suuntasimme kohti Kokkolan leirintä-aluetta asuntovaunulla.  Paikka on hieno leiriytymiseen sillä vuosittaiset KLAG:in kisat pidetään samalla alueella.  Tämän erityisen viikonlopun aikana kokoontuu agilityväkeä paikalle ympäri Suomen pitämään hauskaa, tapaamaan tuttuja ja nauttimaan siitä mistä pitävät eniten - agility ja koirat.

Uutta tänä vuonna oli, että lähdimme paikalle päivää aikaisemmin ottaaksemme osaa naapurikaupungin koiraseuran (JKF/PKS) iltakisaan torstaina.  Ilma oli loistava, miltei liian lämmin.

Dellalla ja Taikalla oli suunnitelmissa kaksi starttia molemmilla.  Pasi todella nautti jokaisesta startista Taikan kanssa, tulos ei ole enää tärkeä tietäen, että tämä on Taikan viimeinen kesä kisaavana agilitykoirana.  Taika täyttää syksyllä 11 vuotta ja olemme päättäneet antaa sen nauttia lopun elämää terveenä ja onnellisena agilityeläkeläisenä.  Se on tietysti myös surullista , mutta sellaista elämä on.  Taika on ensimmäinen valiomme koskaan ja sille kuuluu vain paras.

Taika kulkee edelleen hyvin ja kuten niin monta kertaa aikaisemminkin, Pasi ja Taika ovat tiimimme tähdet.  Della teki myös loistavaa työtä ja olimme niin lähellä menestystä tällä kertaa, mutta minä todella mokasin ja ohjasin Dellan väärin ja tuloksena oli kaksi hylkyä.  Pasi ja Taika sijoittuivat 7.  sijalle.  Loistavaa yhteistyötä jälleen kerran!

Seuraavina kolmena päivänä Kokkolassa meillä oli yhteensä kahdeksan starttia, Dellalla viisi ja Taikalla kolme.  KLAG:in kisat ovat niin paljon muuta kuin kisaamista muita vastaan.  Se on käsite.

Vaikka tiimimme ei saavuttanut suuria voittoja tai sertifikaatteja agilityssa tällä kertaa, sain kokea henkilökohtaisen voiton kun Della teki ensimmäisen tuloksen alle ihanneajan kolmosluokassa (-3,52 s / nopeus 3,77 m/s).  Tiedän, ettei se ole mikään loistava tulos suurimmalle osaa kilpailijoita, mutta meille se oli merkittävä askel kohti oikeaa suuntaa.  Me liikumme!

Pasi ja Taika pärjäsivät myös hyvin Kokkolassa ja vaikka he eivät tehneet yhtään puhdasta ratasuoritusta, sijoittuivat he kahdessa kisassa.  Tätä minun ja Dellan pitää vielä työstää, hyvää ja vahvaa yhteistyötä.

Nähdään taas ensi vuonna, Kokkola!

02.07. Non-Official Dog Show / Match-Show, Eura

As I have mentioned before, Pasi is not fond of dog shows.  Luckily for me though he's a very kind husband and comes with me when I have decided to attend such shows.  This time the show was only twenty minutes away by car so I just had to go there with Brie and Della.

Being 14 months old, Brie competed in the class for small adults for the very first time.  Since I showed Della in the same class I had our very good friend, Annamaria, to help me with Brie.  Della is so much my darling, so I did not want to tease her more than necessary by having her handled by someone else than me.  According to Pasi Della is a terribly spoiled dog...

At a non-official dog show you compete in pairs and the judge awards the dogs with ribbons - a red one or a blue.  After having gone through the dogs in a class, all the dogs with blue ribbons compete against each other, the dogs with red ribbons do the same.  At this show Brie was awarded with the blue ribbon and Della with the red one.  I was very happy with the judge's decision because Brie and Della did not have to compete against each other.

Annamaria did a splendid job with Brie and they were placed second among the blue ribbon dogs.  Thank you so much for your help, Annamaria!  Della also succeeded in charming the judge and was awarded second best in the red group.  What made me extra pleased was the special remark I got from the judge.  She told me I've got two shelties with excellent movements.  Beautiful words to close a lovely day!

Minun kaksi hemmoteltua ja menestynyttä koiraa, Brie ja Della.

Kuten olen aikaisemmin kertonut, Pasi ei juuri pidä koiranäyttelyistä.  Minun onneksi hän on kiltti aviomies ja lähtee mukaan kun olen päättänyt osallistua nättelyihin. Tällä kertaa näyttely oli lähellä, vain 20 minuuttia matka autolla joten minun oli osallistua Brien ja Dellan kanssa.

Brien ollessa nyt 14 kuukautta kisasi se ensimmäistä kertaa pienten aikuisten luokassa.  Koska itse esitin Dellan, hyvä ystäväni Annamaria auttoi minua Brien kanssa.  Della on niin minun kultani, joten en halunnut kiusata sitä tarpeettomasti antamalla jonkun muun sitä esittää.  Pasin mielestä Della on mahdottoman hemmoteltu koira...

Epävirallisissa näyttelyissä koirat kisaavat pareittain, tuomari arvostelee parin nauhoin, punainen ja sininen nauha.  Arvosteltuaan kaikki parit luokassa, kaikki sinisen nauhan saaneet kisaavat vastakkain ja punaisen saaneet samoin.  Tässä näyttelyssä Brie sai sinisen nauhan ja Della punaisen.  Olin erittäin tyytyväinen tuomarin päätökseen sillä Brien ja Dellan ei tarvinnut kisata toisiaan vastaan.

Annamaria teki loistavaa työtä Brien kanssa sijottuen toiseksi sinisten koirien ryhmässä.  Kiitos todella paljon avusta, Annamaria!  Della onnistui myös hurmata tuomarin ja valittiin toiseksi punaisten ryhmässä.  Minut sai erityisen iloseksi tuomarin kommentti.  Hän kertoi minun molempien shelttien liikkuvan erinomaisesti.  Hienoja sanoja mahtavan päivän päätteksi!

Brie, the water beast / Vesipeto Brie

I think we've had a very nice summer so far and we have been enjoying some really hot days at times.  After having got acquainted with the Yyteri dog beach in Pori last year, we nowadays know where to go when the heat wave strikes.

So it did last Sunday.  It was great fun to find out that all our dogs went straight into the water this time, even last year's yellow-belly Kuura.  Taika and Della strolled along in the shallow waters close to the beach while Brie got really crazy and turned into a black water beast.  Brie enjoyed the warm sea water and she ran and jumped, attacked her more careful friends and ran again.  Again we experienced that Brie is everything but a basic sheltie.

Some just love water more than others.

Jotkut taas pitävät vedestä enemmän kuin muut.

Minun mielestäni meillä on ollut tähän mennessä hyvä kesä, olemme nauttineet auringosta ja myös todella kuumista päivistä silloin tällöin.  Tutustuimme Yyterin koirarantaan viime kesänä, tiedämme nyt minne mennä kun helle iskee.

Niin teimme sitten viime sunnuntaina.  Oli niin hieno nähdä kun kaikki neljää koiraa ryntää suoraan veteen, myös viime vuoden arkajalka Kuura.  Taika ja Della kahlasi matalassa vedessä lähellä rantaa kun taas Brie sekosi täysin ja ryntäsi veteen ja osoittautui todelliseksi vesipedoksi.  Brie todella nautti lämpimästä merivedestä ja se hyppi, juoksi ja hyökkäsi kohti varoisempia ystäviään ja juoksi taas.  Opimme taas, että Brie on kaikkea muuta kuin normaali sheltti.

17.-19-06. The Finnish Agility Championships 2016 / SM-Agility 2016, Nastola

What a weekend, what an experience!  For the first time ever our club, Harjavallan Palvelus- ja Seurakoiraharrastajat ry (HPSH ry), participated in the team competition of the Finnish Championships in agility.  The team size was "small" and I and Pasi were privileged to be part of it together with our friends Janita Kangassalo / sheltie Sidi and Tommi Rintala / sheltie Mini.  Pasi competed with Taika and I ran with Della.

To be approved for being in the team competition you have to have a dog that competes in the highest class in agility, that is in class 3.  No other special results are required for a team member.  For participating in the individual competition of the championship there are requirements, among other things a specific number of clean runs during the year.

I am grateful for Della's place in the team, partly because of our lack of results due to all our setbacks, partly because of me knowing, Della will never be as fast as our team members' dogs.  Della's back problems and lack of self-confidence have led to a lot of problems in the techniques how to weave and jump correctly.  We're now concentrating on these problems by turning them into fun challenges.  My goal this year is to at least once get a clean run under the ideal time.

Tommi Rintala and Mini were the first ones out to conquer the team competition course planned and judged by Jari Helin.  They are a fast couple but unfortunately Mini hurt her hind leg while weaving and Tommi had to call off their run only three obstacles from the finish line.  They had had a fault before the weaving incident, but who cared.  The only thing that mattered was that Mini was OK.  The weather was the worst possible when Tommi started off with Mini, the rain poured down and the course was quite slippery.  It was the same for all but unfortunately Mini was the one to suffer from it.  I am just glad Mini walked normally outside the course after the race.  The best win for the day!

Della started second and it's amazing how nervous you can get when you think of how important it is to do a good job for your team.  It's worse than competing on your own, I think.  On the other hand it's marvellous to experience the team spirit, it's unbeatable.  After Mini's accident I decided to play it safe.  I knew it was going to eat time but I enjoyed every second with Della, my dog paid attention and did a great job at the right time and we passed the finish line with no faults but a slight overtime.  What a feeling!

Taika and Pasi were next in line and Taika was like a piece of hot coal in Pasi's hands.  Taika took off and no one probably noticed that Pasi was handling a soon eleven years old dog on the track.  If you are a frequent reader of our blog, you know that Taika does not do contacts - but by mistake - and you have to lead her to the obstacles.  Taika does not fetch them from a distance, which means Pasi is sometimes having serious problems.  If he's not in the right position Taika usually refuses.  Three refusals and you're out in agility, unfortunately this is what happened to Taika and Pasi and they got a disqualification.  It was really a pity because our team needed three results for a final placement.

Janita and Sidi were our team's anchor and they did a great job.  Janita handled her dog beautifully through the course and they crossed the finish line with only one fault and a second overtime.

Finally a big thanks to our club HPSH ry for giving us this possibility, to our great team and to our lovely friends - Jaana, Minna and Suski - who came all the way to Nastola to support us.  You really have gold status!  Though we returned without any greater success this time, I am so pleased to notice that what we did in Nastola has raised the spirit and motivation among our agility handlers in Harjavalta.  Agility is not blood, sweat and tears, it's fun, run and a crazy love for dogs.  Could it be any better!?!

Nastola 2016 - mahtava muisto!

Mikä viikonloppu, mikä kokemus!  Ensimmäistä kertaa HPSH ry:n historiassa seura osallistui agilityn SM-kisoissa joukkuekisaan.  Kokoluokka oli "mini" ja minä ja Pasi saimme kunnian olla osa joukkuetta yhdessä ystäviemme Janita Kangassalo / sheltti Sidin ja Tommi Rintala / sheltti Minin kanssa.  Pasi kisasi Taikalla ja minä Dellan kanssa.

Saadakseen osallistumisoikeuden koiran tulee kisata agilityn korkeimmassa luokassa eli 3-luokassa.  Muita erityisiä vaatimuksia tai tulokisa ei vaadita joukkueen jäseniltä.  Yksilökisaan pääsyyn vaaditaan tiettyjä saavutuksia, mm. tietty määrä puhtaita ratasuorituksia vuodessa.

Olen kiitollinen Dellan paikasta joukkueessa, osaksi siksi ettei meillä ollut tuloksia takaiskujen takia, osaksi siksi että tiedän, ettei Della ole koskaan ollut joukkueen nopein koira.  Dellan selkäongelmat ja itseluottamuksen puute on aiheuttanut paljon ongelmia oikeaan pujottelu- ja hyppytekniikkaan.  Keskitymme nyt näihin ongelmiin kääntämällä ne hauskoiksi haasteiksi.  Tavoitteemme on saada ainakin yksi puhdas aliaika rata tänä vuonna.

Tommi Rintala ja Mini olivat joukkueen ensimmäinen pari Jari Helinin suunnittelemalla radalla.  He ovat nopea pari, mutta harmiksi he joutuivat keskeyttämään radan kolmanneksi viimeisellä esteellä Mini loukatessa jalkansa pujottelussa.  Ennen pujottelua heillä oli vain viisi virhepistettä, mutta sillä ei ollut merkitystä.  Tärkeintä oli, että Mini ei loukkaantunut vakavammin ja oli kunnossa.  Sää oli pahin mahdollinen Tommin startatessa Minin kanssa, satoi kaatamalla ja rata oli liukas.  Tilanne oli sama kaikille, mutta valitettavasti Mini sai kärsiä siitä.  Olen todella iloinen, että Mini käveli radan jälkeen normaalisti.  Päivän paras voitto!

Della startasi toisena ja on uskomatonta miten hermostunut voit olla kun ajattelet miten tärkeää on tehdä hyvä tulos joukkueelle.  Se on pahempaa kuin yksilökisassa, uskon.  Toisaalta on hienoa kokea joukkuehenki, se on lyömätöntä.  Minin epäonnen jälkeen päätin pelata varman päällä.  Tiesin, että se veisi aikaa, mutta nautin jokaisesta sekunnista Dellan kanssa, koirani oli tarkkana ja teki loistavasti töitä ja saavuimme maalin puhtaalla ratasuorituksella, pienellä yliajalla.  Mikä tunne!

Taika ja Pasi olivat vuorossa seuraavana ja Taika oli kuin tulisilla hiilillä.  Taika lähti vauhdilla ja kukaan ei varmasti ajatellut, että Pasi ohjasi pian yksitoista vuotiasta koiraa radalla.  Jos luet säännöllisesti blogiamme, tiedät ettei Taika ota kontakteja - kuin vahingossa - ja se täytyy saattaa esteillä.  Taika ei hae niitä etäältä, mikä tarkoittaa, että Pasilla on välillä pahoja ongelmia.  Mikäli ohjaus ei ole oikein Taika kieltäytyy suorittamasta.  Kolme kieltoa ja olet ulkona agilityssa, valitettavasti näin kävi Taikalle ja Pasille ja heidät hylättiin.  Se oli todella harmi, sillä joukkue olisi tarvinnut kolme tulosta saadakseen sijoituksen.

Janita ja Sidi olivat joukkueemme ankkurit ja tekivät loistavaa työtä.  Janita ohjasi koiraansa hienosti radan läpi ja ylittivät maalilinjan vain viidellä virhepisteellä ja sekunnin yliajalla.

Lopuksi suuri kiitos HPSH ry:lle tästä mahdollisuudesta osallistua, hienolle joukkueelle ja ihanille ystäville - Jaana, Minna ja Suski - jotka tulitte Nastolaan asti kannustamaan meitä.  Olette kullan arvoisia!  Vaikka emme saavuttaneet suurta menestystä tällä kertaa, olen niin tyytyväinen huomatessani miten agilityohjaajien yhteishenki ja motivaatio seurassa kasvoi.  Agility ei ole verta, hikeä ja kyyneleitä, se on hauskaa, juoksemista ja hullua rakkautta koiriin.  Voisiko se olla parempaa!?!

06.06. RKS, Rauma

I am probably a bit crazy.  Last Monday evening I had three competitions in agility with Della in Rauma, two agility courses and a jumping course.  The funny thing is that though all these three runs ended up in as many disqualifications, I still felt great!  Something that's not actually normal for me.

After all the setbacks I've had with Della including back problems and a dislocated shoulder, I am really enjoying handling and being back on track again.  An even greater joy is to see how happy Della is and to follow her current smooth movements.  What a win!

Pasi did very well with Taika and once again I learnt that "oldies are goldies".  Taika had a clean run and I can't do anything but admire the speed of this special lady, which will turn eleven in September.  Taika loves agility and it shows!

Pasi and I also had a good chance to test our new shoes we bought a few weeks ago.  They felt so good and we are more than satisfied with our purchase.  I think we can give our comfortable shoes some credit too for a successful evening.  Our team is back in the game on all levels!

Happy hour - agilitya, hauskanpitoa ja uudet kengät.

Olen luultavasti hieman hullu.  Viime maanantai-iltana Raumalla minulla oli kolme starttia Dellan kanssa, kaksi agilityrataa ja yksi hyppäri.  Hauskinta kaikessa oli, että vaikka kaikki kolme rataa päättyivät hylkäykseen, minulla on silti aivan huippufiilis!  Jotakin, mikä ei ole ihan normaalia minulle.

Kaikkien niiden Dellan kanssa koettujen takaiskujen jälkeen, mukaan lukien selkäongelmat ja sijoiltaan mennyt olkapää, nautin taas todella ohjaamisesta ja radalla olemisesta.  Vielä parempaa oli nähdä miten iloinen Della on ja miten sujuvasti se liikkuu.  Mikä onni!

Pasi ja Taika tekivät taas hienoa työtä ja jälleen kerran opin, että kokemus on valttia.  Taika teki taas puhtaan radan ja en voi muuta kuin ihailla tämän vanhan leidin vauhtia.  Taika täyttää syyskuussa yksitoista vuotta ja se rakastaa agilitya ja sen huomaa!

Minulla oli Pasin kanssa myös hieno mahdollisuus testata uusia kenkiä, jotka ostimme muutama viikko sitten.  Ne tuntuivat todella hyvältä ja olemme enemmän kuin tyytyväisiä hankintaamme.  Minun mielestä osa kiitos menestyksestä kuuluu myös kengille.  Tiimimme on taas takaisin kaikille tavoin!

21.05. Obedience seminar / Toko-seminaari

A few weeks ago we were lucky to get the opportunity to participate at a special obedience seminar arranged by TVA Pori ry.  The coach for the day was Riitta Kivimäki, a well-qualified handler and competitor in agility and obedience with great achievements, among other things a team bronze medal from the FCI Obedience World Championship in 2014.

I really felt like a happy amateur when I met with the other participants for the day.  Pasi experienced the same.  At the same time we also felt very privileged, because we got an excellent possibility to study both dogs and handlers at an absolute top level in obedience.  They were there to touch up certain details and to get perfection in a certain movement while Pasi and I thirsted for good basic advice how to make obedience stars of Kuura and Brie.  

Brie is wonderful to work with but she's still a very rough diamond and I eager to learn more about today's training methods and how to maintain my dog's interest without just loading it with treats.  Pasi needed advice for how to get Kuura to concentrate on her tasks without boiling over and doing too much.  At the end of the day he had got valuable exercises for calming Kuura down.

During this seminar we once again learned that only your own imagination sets limits for what you can do to vary your training.  No one is perfect but by training you can reach what's perfect for you and your dog.  The best part is that so much can be achieved by just  playing with your dog and having fun together.  By simple tricks you can sometimes conquer the hardest things and at the same time you have a dog that adores you.  The word for the day was "yes"!

Innokkaat oppilaat.

Pari viikkoa sitten meillä oli onnea saada osallistua TVA Pori ry:n toko-seminaariin.  Kouluttajana toimi Riitta Kivimäki, erittäin kokenut ohjaaja ja kisaaja agilityssa ja tokossa todella hyvällä menestyksellä, mm. tokon joukkue pronssi MM-kisoista 2014.  

Tunsin itseni iloiseksi amatööriksi kun tapasin muut päivän osallistujat.  Pasi tunsi samoin.  Samalla tunsimme itsemme todella etuoikeutetuiksi, koska meillä oli erinomainen tilaisuus oppia koirista ja ohjaajista tokon huipputasolla.  Muut olivat siellä hiomassa tiettyjä yksityiskohtia ja saadakseen tiettyjä täydellisiä liikkeitä kun taas Pasi ja minä janosimme enemmän hyviä perusneuvoja miten tehdä tokotähtiä Kuurasta ja Briestä.

On ihana työskenellä Brien kanssa, mutta se on vielä melko hiomaton timantti ja haluan innokkaasti saada tietoja tämän päivän harjoitusmenetelmistä ja miten saada koiran mielenkiinnon pysymään ilman jatkuvaa namujen syöntiä.  Pasi tarvitsi neuvoja saadakseen Kuuran keskittymään tehtäviin, niin ettei se kiihtyisi ja sen takia tekisi liikaa.  Päivän päätteeksi hän sai arvokkaita harjoituksia miten rauhoittaa koiraansa.

Seminaarin aikana opimme taas kerran, että vain oma mielikuvitus rajoittaa mitä kaikkea voit harjoitella koirasi kanssa.  Kukaan ei ole täydellinen, mutta harjoittelemalla voit saavuttaa sen mikä on koirasi kanssa täydellistä.  Parasta on, että leikkimällä ja pitämällä hauskaa koirasi kanssa voit saavuttaa niin paljon.  Yksinkertaiset temput voittaa monta kertaa vaikeat asiat ja samalla sinulla on koira joka ihailee sinua.  Päivän sana oli "kyllä"!
